Pictures 2010
Dec 18th, 2010: Jonathan and Eric joined the celebration of the 75th
anniversary of the chess world championship of Max Euwe in Amsterdam. Above, Eric
is about to make his move against the current world champion
GM Viswanathan Anand.
Jonathan also played him. In the picture above he plays against GM Anish Giri,
only 16 years old and already #55 in the world ranking
(photos by Frans Hazenberg). For more see
video.
Dec 5th, 2010: 16 members joined a tournament in West-Hartford organized
by the New Britain Chess Club (photo by R.R. Kozlowski).
Nov 14th, 2010: Eric won the under 1210 section at the Eastern Chess Congress
in Stamford, $ 300 plus a trophy. On the picture he is congratulated by his
opponent in the final round Henry Olynik. Mr. Olynik is blind. He used the little board in front
of him while Eric used a regular set. On Mr. Olynik's board all
fields have a different feeling. His black and white pieces also had slightly
different shapes since, obviously, he cannot tell the difference between black and
white. Their handshake sealed a draw which gave Eric the overall victory
because he won all his other games.
Oct 16th, 2010: Kate and Jonathan won nice trophies in Holyoke, MA.

August 8th members played adults (and golf) at the New Britain Summer Open Chess Tournament held at
the Hawk's Landing golfclub in Southington. Samantha got a trophy for biggest
upset in the 80+ year history of the New Britain Chess Club. She beat a player
rated 1163 rating points above her! (photo by Doug Fiske)

things would be done in ancient Greek times.
