Oct 16th 2012: we started another season...


Aug 26th 2012: six members competed with adults in the New Britain Chess Club Summer Open. The event was held out-doors in Wickham Park in Manchester. In the picture our Eric (left) just finished his game. Later he would get a nice trophy for "Biggest Upset" - the most unexpected victory by rating points for another game. (photo by Brian Kosnoff)

May 22nd 2012: Our new Simsbury Chess Club Champions are from left to right: Luke (4th grade), Ben (5th), Ciaran (K), Josh (6th), Zachary (1st), Falcon (3rd) and John (2nd).


May 22nd 2012: The final game of our Go Championship. Jenna (right) won and is our new Simsbury Go Club Champion.


Fitzgerald's made another wonderful chess cake. The solution is: 1.Qb3+,Kh8 2.Nf7+,Kg8 3.Nh6+,Kh8 4.Qg8+,Rg8: 5.Nf7 mate.


May 20th 2012: John with his dad was one of 18 Simsbury players at a scholastic tournament in UConn in Storrs. Before the tournament we got a tour of the Engineering School. Afterwards we had our usual visit to the UConn Dairy Bar.


May 5th 2012: Falcon won 1st place in the Primary School Section at the Farmington Scholastic tournament!

March 31, 2012: Henry James Memorial School won the K-8 CT State Championship. Most players are graduates from our library club.


March 4, 2012: Falcon with his medal after a nice 2.5 out of 5 score at the Woodcrest Chess Challenge, Rifton, NY (a mennonite community)


March 4, 2012: Trophies were maple syrup bottles with chess pieces used as cap.


March 4, 2012: Rudolf van Dommele (chess coach in Cold Spring, NY) checking out the maple syrup production.


March 4, 2012: After the chess tournament chess players had dinner with the rest of the community (300 people).
