PICTURES 2009

Nov 22nd 2009: overall winner at the 91st ACTA in Stamford, leaving 48 others behind, was our own Jonathan!

Nov 10th 2009 Mr. Derek Meredith visited us for a blindfold chess demonstration. Derek sat in a corner facing that corner. We made him wear a Fitzgerald's shopping bag to make sure he couldn't see anything. He played against Tommy, our current 6th grade champion. Tommy used a regular chessboard and got lots of help. They communicated by telling each other their moves using chess notation. Everyone was impressed that Derek won under these conditions! (photos by Spring)

Third prize in Sturbridge, MA 2009: we bring home more than trophies....

The position on the cake: white begins and wins. With good D black can prevent white from getting a queen.
However, white wins anyway (for the solution, click here).
