Voted Best Chess Club in Connecticut in 2022
The annual New Britain City Chess Championship started in the 1930s. This heritage event was eliminated from the club's schedule of activities after 2006 due to the introduction of a new annual event, the Arkadijs Strazdins Cup, in 2007.
Starting in 1972, the club held a reserve tournament in conjunction with the New Britain City Chess Championship.
