Derek Meredith visited us for a blindfold chess demonstration. Derek sat in a corner facing that corner. We made him wear a Fitzgerald's shopping bag to make sure he couldn't see anything. He played against Tommy, then our 6th grade champion. Tommy used a regular chessboard and got lots of help. They communicated by telling each other their moves using chess notation. Derek won.
